Nagercoil. 03.04.18.Christians celebrating Easter turned up in great numbers at the churches for the Easter service on Sunday, 1st April at the churches in Nagercoil.
Midnight mass marked the beginning of Easter celebrations in Nagercoil’s churches. The Great Vigil of Easter started late Saturday night with a special Easter mass followed by lighting of candles and hymns in the Roman Catholics churches - Christ the King, St. Xaviers, Holy Family Church, Kurusady and Bishop’s House. Easter services lasted till the end of the mid-night hour, when Jesus is said to have resurrected.
CSI Christian churches opened for an early morning service on Sunday morning, with Home Church, Kaliancadu CSI, CSI Nesamonynager and Christ Church witnessing a congregation of overflowing capacities. The Savation Army Church too congregated for the early morning easter service.
The Faithful in thousands thronged the churches with their family members and friends to offer prayers. Easter is celebrated as Resurrection Sunday when Jesus Christ resurrected after third day of crucifixion or Good Friday. All over the world, Christians celebrate Easter as victory over death, a celebration of new life that Christ brings.
