Kiwi batsmen Joe Carter and Brett Hampton had help from a pair of no-balls to set a record of 43 runs in a over after hitting six sixes in a domestic match held between Northern Districts and Central Districts on Wednesday in Hamilton.

Willem Ludick a South African born bowler who was bowling his last over with bowling figures of 1/42 was unfortunate, as he was decimated by both the batsmen and ended up with bowling figures of 1/85 after his spell was completed.

The sixes were hit by both the batsmen in the following sequence 4, 6+nb, 6+nb, 6, 1, 6, 6, 6 which is a List A world record.

Previous record for List A one day match was seen in the Dhaka Premier League which was set by Zimbabwe’s Elton Chigumbura by scoring 39 runs for Sheikh Jamal against Abrhani Ltd in the Dhaka Premier League.

The maximum number of runs scored in an over in International First class ODI and T20 match is 36, which has never been achieved in a test match yet.

The most runs scored in a over in a test match was 28 by Brian Lara from West Indies off Robin Peterson's from South Africa in 2003 at Wanderers.

In ODI records, Herschelle Gibbs from South Africa hit Netherlands blower Dann Van Bunge for six straight sixes at the 2007 world cup at St. Kitts.

In T20 internationals Yuvraj Singh from India sent Stuart Broad from England into the stands for six continues sixes at the 2007 world T20 series at Durban.
