What sparked off in a conversation when three friends met over tea, Babuji Peter, Jose & Jeykumar Samuel, later culminated in the Class Reunion of Scott Christian College Pre-University Class (PUC) Batch 1963-64, after a half a century (54 years exactly) on 12th May, 2018 at Women’s Christian College Nagercoil, which was their Alma Mater. Today’s WCC campus was the Scott Christian College (till 1971) during their year in class.
When 21 of the 60 classmates saw each other for the first time in 50 years at the Seminary Hall II of Women’s Christian College, Nagercoil, some got about identifying each other recalling old memories about how each one looked in their PUCs, just past their teen years, and how they had all changed over the years. Some were hard to identify for the others, as they had last met 50 years ago and now most are in their seventies. Old Class gangs regrouped and caught up with lost time.
There was great joy & rejoicing, pulling each other’s feet jovially like in their old class and all that you could expect when old friends meet. They Class of 63-64’ had also invited their teachers like Prof. A.D. Yesudas, Prof. Christudhas and Mrs. Vasanthakumari who were overwhelmed to see their students and recollected some golden memories.
The Secretary and Treasurer of Scott Alumni Association, Prof. James R. Daniel and Prof. Mohandhas graced the occasion stressed the need for strengthening the alumni. The Principal of WCC was a guest at the meet. A minutes’s silence was offered to those departed classmates who went unmet. The 21 classmates who attended the meeting, shared excerpts, anecdotes from their lives and discussed careers on stage, introduced their families one by one and also recollected some unforgettable moments during the year in Scott Christian College’s WCC campus. They have decided to meet every year from now on and a call was issued to trace the missing 40, who had lost touch over the years.
