All shops were closed in Kanyakumari against the Supreme court verdict allowing women of all age groups to visit the Sabarimala temple.

The Supreme Court has passed an Order last month permitting women of all age groups to visit the Sabarimala which did not go well and have caused unrest amongst the devotees since the judgment day in Kerela.

The temple doors were open on the 17th fot puja when some woman activists and devotees tried to enter the temple with protection of state police, But people from various Hindu groups protested and blocked the women from entering the temple who were lathi charged by the police.

Several review petitions has been filed against the verdict. The Travancore Devaswom board has also planned to file a review petition against the Supreme court verdict.

Since all shops are closed including tea stalls, hotels the tourists who have visited Kanyakumari are facing a lot of inconvenience.
