Air India air hostess falls off plane at Mumbai airport

Harsha Lobo, a 53-year-old air hostess succumbed multiple fractures falling from the plane when trying to close the door for the pushback and hurt her leg during the takeoff.

The incident happened in Air India plane Flight AI 864 flying from Mumbai to New Delhi at around 7:00 AM in the morning when the flight was getting ready for departure at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai. Ms Lobo fell several metres to the hard tarmac. Due to this unfortunate incident, the flight was delayed for over an hour.

Ms Lobo sustained multiple fractures in the right leg, both heels and soft tissue injuries to her chest, abdomen and lower spine, said hospital sources. A team of orthopaedic specialists are taking care of her, Nanavati Hospital chief Rajendra Patankar said to reporters.
