Hit Man, as he is fondly called, India’s Opening batsman Rohit Sharma decimated the bowling attack of West Indies on the first ODI held at Guwahati on Sunday. He made look a massive score of 322 look like a meagre one. Rohit remained unbeaten scoring 152 runs in just 117 balls with 15 fours and 8 sixes. His eight sixes in the match put him third in the list of Indian batsmen with the highest number of sixes. Rohit Sharma now has 194 sixes to his name in ODIs and there is every possibility that he could equal or even surpass batting legend Sachin Tendulkar's record of 195 sixes in the second ODI against the Windies on Wednesday.

Rohit now holds the 8th spot for the maximum number of sixes scored by any player in an ODI. He has already surpassed the former Indian cricket team Captian Sourav Ganguly’s record of 190 sixes. The only Indian who is in the top 5 for the player with maximum number of sixes is India’s wicket keeper batsmen M.S Dhoni who is in the 4th spot with 217 sixes, Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi leads the Chart with 351 sixes to his name followed by Windies opening batsman Chris Gayle and third on the list is Sri Lanka’s former batting legend Sanath Jayasuriya with 270 sixes.

India currently leads the 5-match ODI series against Windies with 1-5. The second match is to be held on Wednesday at YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium at Visakapatnam.
